Sunsets sunrises are always beautiful and spiritual to me. I go out on walks a lot early in the morning and when I see the sun come up it feels like I'm alone in the world and the only person alive. It sounds crazy but that feeling gives me peace and resets me to face the rest of the day. I'm lucky in that Virginia is really beautiful. Yes it's the only state I've lived in the us, but i do think it boats of beautiful landscapes and glorious sunsets. So this is my homage to the sunsets around us. 

The painting is done alla prima, and I played around with the colors of sunset. Layering the colors to achieve a glowing sky was a lot of fun. I used yellows and pinks as well as violets and blues.
